One of Penn State football’s top recruiting targets plans on playing in the Big Ten, but not for Penn State.
Khalil Taylor, a Western Pennsylvania product who stars at Pine-Richland High School, announced Wednesday evening that he’s committed to Nebraska, picking coach Matt Rhule’s team over Deion Sanders and Colorado and Matt Campbell’s Nittany Lions, among others.
A four-star receiver, Taylor also had offers from schools such as Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Miami, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
247Sports’ composite ratings have Taylor as the No. 84 overall player in the country, as well as the No. 13 receiver and No. 4 player in Pennsylvania from his class.
He initially committed to Penn State, announcing that decision in late March 2025. But the day before Penn State lost to Northwestern, which led to the firing of James Franklin, Taylor announced that he had decommitted. Penn State remained one of his top schools under new coach Matt Campbell, but for now, he plans to be a Cornhusker.
The early signing period is scheduled to begin Dec. 2 and run through Dec. 4.
