Penn State Loses Commit to Rutgers

Aiden Gibson - IG

Penn State has lost one of its Class of 2027 commitments to Rutgers.

Hayes Fawcett of Rivals and On3Sports reported early Monday afternoon that Aiden Gibson, a four-star RB from Woodruff High School in South Carolina, had flipped from PSU to Rutgers.

Gibson had been committed to Penn State since May 12, having also been offered by schools such as Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Louisville, Maryland, NC State, North Carolina, Pitt, Rutgers, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCF, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.

He’s the No. 6 RB in the country per 247Sports, the No. 2 player in South Carolina and the No. 103 player from his class.

Additionally, Fawcett reported that Gibson will reclassify to 2026 and will enroll at Rutgers in August.

Here’s how 247Sports’ Director of Scouting, Andrew Ivins, describes Gibson

“Tall and powerful running back that has a chance to be a bell cow on Saturdays with his contact balance, lateral quickness and chops as a pass-catcher.
-Pairs impressive year-over-year production with the ideal multi-sport profile (91 explosion score).
-Built for inside work as he hits the hole with authority and can find leverage despite being a naturally up-right runner.
-Has the visions and awareness to side step tacklers and navigate congestion.
-Frequently finishes plays as he bounces off contact and thrusts himself forward.
-Not a true home-run hitter, but can rip off chunk plays when he finds a crease.
-Slippery on screen calls and has gained valuable experience running routes from the slot.
-Projects as a potential featured option at the Power Four level that can bang between the tackles.”

Penn State now has 21 players committed to its 2027 Class, with Chukwuma Odoh being the lone RB.
