Penn State All 105: Jackson Ford Looks To Build On Commitment To Penn State

Jackson Ford - CBS Sports

This is one in a series of stories breaking down each player on Penn State football’s 2026 roster.

Jackson Ford’s Penn State career has not started with a snap yet.

But his commitment already meant something.

Ford, a freshman defensive end from Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, enters 2026 as one of the most interesting young defensive linemen on Penn State’s roster. The 6-foot-5, 264-pounder comes to State College from Malvern Prep, where he became one of the top prospects in Pennsylvania.

He also became one of the early symbols of Penn State’s transition into the Matt Campbell era.

Ford stuck with Penn State during a turbulent recruiting cycle that followed James Franklin’s departure. At a time when several recruits reopened their recruitments or followed Franklin to Virginia Tech, Ford didn’t waver. His high school coach, Dave Gueriera, said there was “no reason to decommit,” emphasizing that Ford was committed to the institution and the place, not just the coaches who recruited him.

Penn State has always been at its best when it keeps Pennsylvania’s best players home. Ford’s commitment was a reminder that the program still has pull, even during uncertainty.

Before Penn State: Ford was a two-year letterman at Malvern Prep after beginning his high school career at Phoenixville. He was a team captain as a senior and helped Malvern Prep to an 8-2 record as a senior after an 8-2 mark as a junior.

He earned All-Region honors in 2024 and 2025 and was named All-City as a junior and senior. Ford was also an All-Conference selection three times.

His production showed why Penn State wanted him.

As a senior, Ford recorded 30 solo tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and four sacks. He also caught six passes for 98 yards and two touchdowns. As a junior, he had 29 solo tackles, nine tackles for loss and six sacks, while adding 200 receiving yards and four offensive touchdowns.

Ford was ranked as a consensus four-star prospect. On3 ranked him as the No. 209 overall prospect, No. 25 edge and No. 5 player in Pennsylvania. 247Sports rated him as the No. 240 overall prospect, No. 27 edge and No. 8 player in the state.

Where He Stands: Ford is still a freshman, so patience is fair.

But his frame, athleticism and in-state profile make him one of Penn State’s more important developmental defensive ends.

He’s not just a prospect, Ford is a symbol of what Penn State still can be when Pennsylvania players believe in the program.
