The most successful RB duo in Penn State history made history within minutes of each other.
First, a 55-yard run by Kaytron Allen made him the first back in Penn State history to reach 4,000 yards.
Plays later, Nicholas Singleton’s 11-yard touchdown run broke a tie with Saquon Barkley both for rushing touchdowns (44) and total touchdowns (54).
This follows up a big senior night for each of the runners at Beaver Stadium last Saturday. Allen became the all-time leading rusher in Penn State history and Singleton tied Barkley’s touchdown record with a pair of scores.
The two have continued rolling in Piscataway.
Singleton and Allen have been key contributors for Penn State since they began their college careers 2022.
That season, the two transformed a running game that had been, statistically, one of the worst in the country into one of the best.
Through the next three seasons, each player experienced ups and downs, but never ceased to be a staple in Penn State’s offense.
Although 4,000 yards is indeed a milestone, Allen’s bigger moment came last week, when he broke Evan Royster’s school record.
This Saturday, Singleton put himself in the books.
“Obviously this year wasn’t what I expected (or what) the whole team expected,” Singleton said last week via Blue-White Illustrated. “But I wouldn’t trade it for nothing. These last four years at Penn State meant a lot to me, my teammates, coaches and obviously my family back at home. So to go out there this Saturday to get a win, especially my senior night, will just mean a lot.”
“I want to get a lot of records, the rushing touchdown record, the total touchdown record, just being that type of player for my teammates and all that. The fans could talk about me when I leave, obviously, very good player I was, very good teammate I was. That type of legacy I just want to leave, especially at that point.”
