University Park, PA – It has been a long season for senior running back Nick Singleton, who has struggled to gain consistent traction on the ground. But he has fully embraced his role as a red-zone specialist, delivering touchdowns whenever Penn State has needed them most.
Late in the second quarter, with just over four minutes remaining, Singleton made history. He matched Saquon Barkley (2015–17) for the most touchdowns from scrimmage in a Penn State career with 51 on a four yard rushing touchdown.
On Penn State’s ensuing possession, Singleton scored on a 10-yard rushing touchdown eclipsing Barkley’s touchdowns from scrimmage record.
Singleton now has 43 rushing touchdowns, tied with Barkley, and nine receiving scores.
During Barkley’s three seasons, he totaled 43 rushing touchdowns and eight receiving touchdowns.
Singleton also stands alone in program history as the only player to record 10 or more touchdowns from scrimmage in four different seasons.
Barkley had 53 total touchdowns (43 rush, 8 receiving, 2 kickoff), while Singleton has 53 as well (43 rush, 9 receiving, 1 kickoff).
