Penn State plays football for the second time this season today, and like last week, the team will be expected to win by a lot of points against FIU.
FIU’s 33-point Week 1 win over Bethune Cookman wasn’t enough to change too many minds.
PSU is favored by 41.5 points, and the reasons are obvious.
Penn State is returning a team that came within a drive of playing for the national championship, and FIU went 4-8 last season. PSU didn’t do anything to hurt its cause last week with its 46-11 win over Nevada. One of the only negatives that came out of that game was that Penn State didn’t cover the spread.
Will that change today?
ESTABLISHING THE RUN

Penn State hasn’t had to worry too much about the run game during the past several years but it was quiet last week.
Kaytron Allen rushed for just 43 yards. Nick Singleton had 19. Collectively, the team ran for 135 yards on 36 carries, under four yards per carry. Penn State and its fans are used to seeing more production from the two seniors, and today would be a big chance to see it. The two also have a chance to inch their way closer up the school’s all-time rushing leaderboard. Singleton is currently 10th, three yards behind Lydell Mitchell for ninth, 23 behind Larry Johnson for eighth and 97 behind DJ Dozier for seventh.
Allen is 11th, 12 yards behind Singleton. You can do the math there.
