A player Penn State wanted out of the transfer portal has committed elsewhere.
Matt Zenitz of 247Sports reported Friday afternoon that Mohamed Toure, an All-Big Ten performer at Rutgers, has committed to Miami.
For a bit, it looked like Toure might be coming to Penn State.
The team needed a linebacker out of the transfer portal, and even with PSU adding a good one in UNC’s Amare Campbell, it would have been realistic to picture Toure coming on board.
A big reason to believe this was the fact that Toure’s younger brother, Vaboue, is a safety at Penn State. Mohamed Toure visited PSU late last month.
Nonetheless, he’s going to be a Hurricane.
TOURE’S CREDENTIALS
Mahomed Toure’s credentials are not in question. Simply put, the guy can play. Although he missed last season due to injury, Toure balled out in 2023, ending the year with 94 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He’s also from Pleasantville, New Jersey, and Penn State has long been a force in that state.
THE GOOD NEWS

The good news for Penn State is that it didn’t strike out in trying to add a linebacker during this spring transfer portal window. Far from it, in fact.
That’s because of Campbell, who committed last week after taking his official visit.
The 6-foot, 230-pounder had 76 tackles for Carolina last season to go along with 6.5 sacks.
So, Coach James Franklin got what he wanted.
“If there’s a linebacker out there that wants to come and be a part of our program and play for LBU, the most historic linebacker program in the history of college football, there’s an opportunity here to join the room and compete,” Franklin said. “I think we’ve got enough in the room, but to get through an entire season, if we get some injuries, it could get challenging. So we’re gonna look at the portal, see if we can find a solution.”
