The Penn State men’s basketball team continues its busy offseason and have offered two Pennsylvania prospects in Carter Smith and Ajani “AJ” Stewart.
Smith, a 2028 prospect out of William Penn Charter School in Philadelphia, is a 6′-3″ combo-guard ranked No. 5 in the state and No. 63 in the country by 247Sports.
A scouting report from PrepRadar had this to say about the Quaker: “Smith operates effectively at both guard positions, utilizing his 6-3 frame to create mismatches against smaller defenders while maintaining the ball-handling skills to initiate offense. His versatility allows him to slide seamlessly between running point and playing off the ball, making him a valuable chess piece for coaches. The Philadelphia native shows solid court vision and decision-making ability, though he’s still refining his consistency from beyond the arc. His length and athletic ability give him defensive upside, particularly when guarding multiple positions on the perimeter.”
Stewart (2027) is from Norristown and plays for Westtown School in West Chester. The 6′-4″ shooting guard is the No. 4 ranked player out of The Keystone State and the No. 159 player nationally per 247.
His primary basketball strengths include elite athleticism, strong finishing ability when in traffic and has the court vision to play as a secondary playmaker who understands spacing and making the extra pass. He is also a highly efficient scorer who frequently impacts games in transition, finishes well through contact and elevates effectively over defenders.
Stewart also has offers from Duquesne, La Salle and Sacred Heart.
