The Penn State men’s basketball team has added a versatile, veteran guard to their backcourt in 6′-2″, fifth-year senior Dasonte Bowen.
Bowen comes to State College after spending the past two seasons in New York at St. Bonaventure. As a Bonnie last season, he averaged 10.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 41.3% from the field.
The Boston native who attended Worcester Academy in Massachusetts and Brewster Academy in New Hampshire attended Iowa right after high school.
He spent two seasons with the Hawkeyes and averaged 3.1 points per game as a freshman and 4.4 points per game as a sophomore before entering the transfer portal and heading to St. Bonaventure.
Now that Bowen is back in the Big Ten, he comes to the Nittany Lions as the eleventh new player on the 2026-2027 squad.
He’ll probably be in competition for the starting point guard role with senior Jay Rodgers, who came to Penn State from Central Connecticut State in April. Either way, the Nittany Lions needed another solid, proven point guard as attrition happens throughout the season.
