Penn State wrestling is favored by an absurd margin in its last dual meet of the 2025 season.
Penn State beat Edinboro 55-0 in its final dual meet last season.
It can be done. https://t.co/CfHDnf49zz

Cael Sanderson’s empire, which has won a Big Ten-record 70 consecutive dual meets, is favored to get No. 71 by 55.5 points over American.
That’s right. 55.5 points.
This is absurd no matter how one looks at it.
Some would argue that the 55.5-point spread is absurdly high, and there’s fair reason to believe that. The maximum points a team can score in a dual meet is 60, after all. For those who don’t think the spread is absurd, that speaks to the absurdity of how good Penn State wrestling has become. 11 national titles in 13 years pretty much speaks for itself, no?
CAN 56 BE DONE?

So can Penn State beat American by 56 points or more? Sure, why not? Last year, Penn State ended its regular season with a 55-0 win over Edinboro, which, like American, is a over-matched non-Big Ten team (not that any team isn’t overmatched against Penn State, to be fair). All Penn State would need is one more point to surpass that, and with a starting lineup that features four No. 1-ranked wrestlers, four more ranked No. 2 and another two who are in the top ten, all signs point to this being the best Penn State wrestling team ever.
Boy, is that saying a lot.
WILL PENN STATE HAVE ITS ENTIRE A-TEAM?

Senior Greg Kerkvliet won with a 12-2 major over Iowa’s Ben Keuter.
Perhaps the biggest thing standing in Penn State’s way of scoring 56 points is it not having everybody on its “a-team.” Defending heavyweight champ Greg Kerkvliet missed of both last weekend’s dual meets with what Sanderson confirmed was an illness. At 133, Braeden Davis did wrestle last weekend but still appears to be banged up from an apparent injury that kept him out earlier this month. Top-ranked 157-pounder Tyler Kasak hasn’t wrestled since Super Bowl Sunday due to injury.
Regardless of who competes, Penn State wrestling will win.
The question is, by how much?
Penn State-American is scheduled to begin at 7 on BTN+.
