In recruiting news, Penn State is now the favorite to land an in-state receiver that the program has been going after for a while.

Brian Dohn of 247Sports placed a Crystal Ball projection for Penn State to land Elias Coke, a three-star receiver from Harrisburg.

Penn State offered Coke, a three-star, 6-foot-3, 205-pounder, in June 2023. He also has offers from schools such as Boston College, Florida State, Iowa State, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, NC State, Pitt, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, UCF, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

Coke has been going crazy with visits to Penn State this season, having gone to the team’s games against Kent State, Illinois and most recently this past Saturday against Ohio State.

Penn State didn’t win that Ohio State game but could well win Cook’s commitment.

WHY PENN STATE IS IN GOOD SHAPE

Penn State coach James Franklin fell to 1-10 against Ohio State with a loss Saturday, Nov. 2 at Beaver Stadium.

Here’s what Dohn, who covers Penn State and every other school’s recruiting efforts, wrote about the school’s interest in Coke.

“Penn State wants him,” he wrote. “He plays at Harrisburg (Pa.) High, is productive, camped well in the summer and he is a prospect coach James Franklin wants. It is not often the Nittany Lions miss on a kid it wants from central Pennsylvania.

And make no mistake, Penn State wants Coke.

He is productive on one of the best public school teams in the state. He has 39 catches for 680 yards and seven touchdowns this season, and he has 108 receptions for 1,932 yards and 25 touchdowns in his career.”

WHAT COKE HAS SAID

Coke talked with Dohn after the team’s game against Kent State in late September, and Coke came away impressed.

“My overall thoughts about Penn State are good,” Coke said. “I like them a lot and it’s gonna be a tough decision to choose. In my process of committing, I’m probably gonna commit before my senior year.”

So how does Penn State feel about Coke, from Coke’s point of view?

“They basically said the same thing about how they feel about me,” he said. “They want me and whenever I’m ready just to pull the trigger.”

Penn State is scheduled to take on Washington at Saturday on Peacock. Kickoff is scheduled for 8.
