Five-star quarterback Matt Zollers won’t be the only high-profiled player that’s currently committed to another program to be visiting Penn State on Saturday.
Nittany Sports Now has learned that 2025 4-star wide receiver Romero Ison will be making a College GameDay visit to Happy Valley. Ison has been committed to Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans since April 9, but Penn State is still recruiting the Baltimore native wide receiver.
Prior to committing to USC, Ison did make an unofficial visit to Penn State and had an official visit scheduled for May but canceled it following his verbal to the Trojans program.

Romero Ison
The 6-foot, 175-pound wideout from Milford Mills Academy in Gwynn Oak, Maryland is drawing the interest of other programs as Ison recently received an offer from the Georgia Bulldogs. Others Power Four programs that have offered Ison include Boston College, California, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech and Rutgers.
Ison got on many programs’ recruiting radar last season when he collected 2,653 total yards, 69 receptions and scored 20 touchdowns.
When looking at the current Penn State roster, improving the talent at wide receiver is definitely a must this upcoming offseason.
Currently in their Class of 2025, the Nittany Lions already have commitments from four wide receivers: 4-star Koby Howard from Hollywood, Florida, 3-star Lyrick Samuel from Brooklyn, New York, 4-star Jeff Exinor Jr., from Owings Mills, Maryland and 3-star Matthew Outten from Portsmouth, Virginia.
Penn State has historically had a strong history recruiting in the state of Maryland. In this current class, the Nittany Lions have received commitments from three players and signed three players in their Class of 2024.
