Days after losing its lone Class of 2027 QB commit, Penn State is going after another one.
Per a report by Nebraska-based Tim Verghese of Hurradt Sports and Hail Varsity, Penn State coach Matt Campbell visited Omaha, Nebraska, on his recruiting tour to offer Braylen Warren, a four-star QB from Westside High School.
Warren is a four-star who’s been committed to Missouri since December.
He also has offers from schools such as Arkansas, California, Cincinnati, Florida State, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas State, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Virginia and Wisconsin.
This May, Warren participated in the Elite 11 finals, which took place in Los Angelas.
So what makes Warren a good prospect?
THE SCOUTING REPORT
Here’s the full scouting report on Warren, per Andrew Ivins of 247Sports, who listed Kentucky QB Kenny Minchey as his player comp.
Minchey is a big reason Kentucky is 6-1 and ranked No. 12 in the country.
-Spread passer with easy arm action and a winning pedigree.
-Put together one of the best throwing sessions on the Elite 11 circuit in advance of senior year as he executed drills to near perfection and rarely put the football on the ground.
-Owns good mass at 6-foot-1, 205 pounds.
-Dazzles on down-field shots with his touch and trajectory.
-Rather accurate on the move and outside the pocket.
-Athletic enough to coordinate RPOs and can alter his release point to get the ball out fast and on time.
-Only threw for over 200 yards once as a junior, but has the skill set to emerge as a Power Four starter in a balanced power attack
CAMPBELL IN THE MIDWEST
Nebraska isn’t a state Penn State would have gone into often before. While it will probably never be a state Penn State is known to visit, Matt Campbell’s Midwest connections from his year’s at Toledo and Iowa State could help them get some talent from that area.
Campbell and the Penn State staff will be recruiting all throughout the bye week.
