Penn State hasn’t won a game since Koby Howard got hurt, and although there are plenty of reasons for that, it still speaks to howard impact.
Before suffering an injury against Buffalo Sept. 19, Howard was developing into one of the Big Ten’s most dangerous big-play receivers.
Through three games, Howard caught 12 passes for 344 yards and two touchdowns, averaging an impressive 28.7 yards per reception.
He also recorded two 100-yard receiving performances during that stretch, becoming the first Penn State receiver to accomplish that feat in a season since Parker Washington and Jahan Dotson in 2021.
Matt Campbell addressed Howard’s status at his weekly press conference Tuesday.
WHAT CAMPBELL SAID

“Koby’s situation is probably where I left off last week,” Campbell said. “I think last week I said he was probably questionable for this week, and I think we’re still at the same point. He’s progressing in a really positive way. I think we’ll know a lot more by the time we get to the end of the week about whether he will be available to play this week. He was out on the practice field today, so that was a positive for sure.“

Another Penn State receiver, Brett Eskildsen, appeared to be banged up toward the end of Penn State’s game against Michigan two weeks ago before the bye week.
Campbell confirmed that Eskildsen will be ready to play.
Penn State is scheduled to take on Purdue at 4:15 Saturday on the Big Ten Network.
