Although they initially weren’t successful in landing a top Pennsylvania talent, the Penn State staff hasn’t given up.
It’s not often that James Franklin and Penn State lose out on a blue-chip in-state recruit but back in July 2025 4-star tight end Andrew Olesh selected the Michigan Wolverines over 30 scholarship offers.
Olesh, who’s rated by 247 Sports as the No. 1 prospect in PA and the No. 47 overall prospect in the Class of 2025, held major Power 4 offers from programs such as Penn State, Notre Dame, Oregon, Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Colorado, Miami Fla., Ole Miss, Pitt, Tennessee, Texas A&M, etc.
Penn State’s matchup against Ohio State is the game of the weekend and Olesh has decided to make the trip top Beaver Stadium for a GameDay visit.
You would have to think that their recent success developing tight ends, including this year with Tyler Warren, who has to be a possible All-American candidate. In a recent 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Warren was projected to be selected in the 1st round by the Kansas City Chiefs.
However, the national battle to try and sign Olesh, will likely go up until Signing Day and could involve another major Big 10 program.
Olesh just concluded a recent visit to Oregon as he watched the Ducks beat-up on No. 24 Illinois, 38-9. It’s being reported that Olesh plans on making a return visit in the near future.
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines plan on doing everything in their power to hold onto Olesh’s commitment. Olesh is scheduled to make a visit to Ann Arbour for Michigan’s home finale on November 23rd against Northwestern.
In all likelihood, this weekend will be the final time that Penn State will have a chance to host Olesh, so their time with him will be critical.
Penn State’s Class of 2025, currently has 25 commitments, including one from 4-star tight end Matt Henderson, from Powhatan, Virginia.
