UNIVERSITY PARK— It wasn’t the game Penn State or its fans hoped for.
Not by a long shot.
Penn State came in as 34.5-point favorites and won by seven.
Despite that, the win is what matters.
“I think it’s just a win at the end of the day,” QB Drew Allar, who ended the game 13-for-20 for 204 yards, two touchdowns and an interception, plus a 5-yard rushing touchdown, said after the game. “There’s a lot of… it’s hard to win in college football no matter who you’re playing against, wherever you’re playing. It’s hard to win in college football. Obviously, we want to play cleaner on both sides. I know offensively, there were a couple penalties. Like I felt offensively, I don’t think we stopped ourselves a lot of times. There were a lot of penalties where we put ourselves in hard situations and backed up situations that are hard to convert on. And Bowling Green did a good job of making those looks tough on us. But I think at the end of the day, if we clean up the pre-snap penalties during plays, we’ll be in a lot better (of a spot) and we’ll be in a lot better positions to sustain drives more often and make third downs a little bit more manageable for us.”
Hear from Allar, WR Omari Evans (2 catches, 34 yards, 29-yard TD) DE Abdul Carter and RB Nicholas Singleton (13 carries, 119 yards, TD, one catch, 14 yards, TD) RB Kaytron Allen (14 carries, 101 yards) and TE Tyler Warren (8 catches, 146 yards, Penn State single-game yardage record for a tight end) after Penn State’s triumph.
