Penn State football recruiting has been on a huge roll lately but hit a bit of a speed bump on Thursday night as they came up short with a top 2025 offensive line target.
Last weekend, 4-star offensive lineman Max Buchanan made an official visit to check out Penn State. Buchanan was someone that the Nittany Lions staff put in a lot of time recruiting. In fact, Penn State was the second program to extend this talented lineman a D-1 offer.

Unfortunately for Penn State they came up short as in the end, Buchanan decided to stay home and play in the Sunshine State.
The native of Sanford, Florida made the decision to end his recruitment and make a verbal commitment to play for Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes.
Buchanan did his due diligence by making six official visits (Miami, Clemson, Florida State, Ole Miss, Central Florida and Penn State) and cited the Hurricanes coaching staff as a huge factor in his decision.
The Rivals.com Top 200 recruit said this about his decision in an interview with Marcus Benjamin from Canes County (Rivals Network).
“Miami was contacting me the most, said Buchanan. “I took a lot of good information from every school I went to. I learned a lot from the players and coaches while I was there.”
“I like it down there (Miami). I like Coach Cristobal, I like Mirabal. I really like the staff at Miami. I definitely felt like I was the priority, I love it.”
Penn State’s Class of 2025, which is ranked No. 5 in the country, also has commitments from 2 offensive lineman but were hoping to add the 6’4″, 300-pound offensive guard to bolster that group.
The two offensive linemen currently committed to Penn State are: 3-star Michael Troutman III (Wayne, New Jersey), 4-star Owen Aliciene (Avon, Connecticut).
