Penn State hosted its first Junior Day event of 2024 this past Saturday, and the weekend will end with at least one new commitment.
Late Sunday morning, Owen Aliciene announced via social media that he had committed to Penn State.

Aliciene is a three-star 6-foot-7, 280-pound offensive tackle from Avon Old Farms High School in Connecticut.
Penn State offered him this past May. He also had offers from schools such as Boston College, Duke, Florida State, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Pitt, Rutgers, SMU, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest. Aliciene is the first lineman on either side of the ball to commit to Penn State’s ‘25 class.
Aliciene spoke glowingly of Penn State offensive line coach Phil Trautwein in an interview with Blue-White Illustrated.
“I like the fact that he is a coach who knows how to connect with players in not only football but also life,” Aliciene said. “His reputation from others is very high, which makes it easy to trust what he says. He also is very encouraging and a great guy to talk to.”
Aliciene visited Penn State over the summer and spoke highly of that experience with BWI over the summer.
“There were a lot of great players out there who were all working hard,” he said. “My second highlight would probably be how they made it fun for everyone, including families, with the yard games and the great food they served us. The third would be meeting with O-line staff. It’s always great to connect with them and see what they have to say about my development.”
Penn State now has eight players committed to its ‘25 class.
