Penn State football received a commitment Sunday night and it’s noteworthy.
247sports composite 4-star defensive end Cortez Harris becomes the first defensive end in Penn State’s Class of 2025.
The 6’4”, 230-pound pass-rusher is from Riverdale Baptist in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Harris becomes Penn State’s 17 commitment and first from the state of Maryland this recruiting cycle. Harris is ranked as the 20th rated EDGE in the country and 5th best player in Maryland, as well as one of the top 250 players in the country in the 247sports composite rankings.
Back on May 1st, Harris released a Top 10 of Penn State, Tennessee, Florida, Texas A&M, Syracuse, Michigan, South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia Tech and Michigan State.
Harris ended up making official visits to Penn State, Maryland and Tennessee.
Harris becomes the third player this weekend to commit to Penn State football following their official visit.
Four-star running back Jabree Wallace-Coleman committed on Saturday and three-star athlete Braswell Thomas committed Sunday morning.

On the flipside, the Nittany Lions lost two from their 2025 class. Alvin Henderson flipped to an SEC school, while Rutgers poached four-star linebacker DJ McClary.
