Former Penn State offensive lineman Steve Wisniewski is one step closer to Canton.
On Tuesday, Wisniewski was named one of 26 semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026. Wisniewski was a star left guard for the Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders in the ‘90s and played 13 years for the franchise.
He earned eight Pro Bowl appearances and two First-Team All-Pro selections. Wisniewski was named a Second-Team All-Pro guard five times, including at age 33 in 2000.
Wisniewski started all 206 games of his NFL career after being drafted in the 2nd round (29th overall) in the 1989 NFL Draft. His draft rights were immediately traded to the Raiders. Wisniewski was also named to the Hall of Fame All-1990s Team.
He is part of a jam-packed offensive line group, including 2025 finalists Willie Anderson, Marshal Yanda, and Jahri Evans. Lomas Brown and Richmond Webb round out the semifinalists on the o-line.
Wisniewski played at Penn State from 1985-1988, winning the 1986 National Championship. He was a two-time First-Team All American at Penn State. His nephew Stefan, is from Bridgeville and also played at Penn State from 2007-2009.
Finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame will be announced on December 3, with the full class unveiled at NFL Honors in February.
