Penn State already has four former Iowa State signees committed to its 2026 recruiting Class, and it could be adding another one soon.
Tuesday afternoon, Elijah Reeder, a three-star EDGE from Central Regional High School in Bayville, New Jersey, announced that he has been released from his National Letter of Intent.
A three-star recruit who clocks in at 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds, Reeder is the No. 8 player in New Jersey per 247Sports composite ratings. New Jersey was an area Penn State struggled at times in recruiting the best talent from under James Franklin, so building up that pipeline is going to be key for new coach and former Iowa State boss Matt Campbell.
In an interview with 247’s Allen Trieu, Reeder said Campbell and Iowa State defensive line coach Eli Rasheed were two big reasons why he committed.
“I feel truly blessed by God to be given this opportunity and truly appreciate the coaches over at Iowa State for believing in me,” Reeder said. “The Coaches are all very down to earth and incredible people. One of the reasons I fell in love with the program is because their staff — like Matt Campbell and Eli Rasheed — have been a part of the program for a decade now.”
Now, Reeder’s recruitment is back open, and Penn State appears to be the favorite.
Both of 247s “crystal ball” projections have him picking Penn State.
“First off I wanted to thank lowa State for giving me with the opportunity to be a Cyclone,” he wrote. “After a lot of prayer and conversations with my family, I have decided to De-Commit from lowa State University. With that being said my recruitment is now 100% open.”
It’s not yet known whether Rasheed will follow Campbell to Penn State. He was Iowa State’s DL coach for all 10 of Campbell’s seasons and worked with Campbell at Toledo before that.
