Penn State football has lost one of its Class of 2025 commitments.
Early Sunday afternoon, DJ McClary, a four-star LB from Henry Snyder High School in Jersey City, announced that he’s flipped his commitment to Rutgers.

McClary had been committed to Penn State since late last September, announcing his decision the day after Penn State’s 31-0 White Out demolition of Iowa.
He stayed committed threw the early part of summer and even took an official visit to Penn State the weekend before he flipped. But ultimately, McClary became the second Penn State ‘25 commit within 24 hours to not only de-commit, but immediately find a new home.
This past Friday, four-star RB Alvin Henderson flipped to Auburn.
McClary took an official visit to Rutgers at the end of May, and after his Penn State official visit, he hinted to 247Sports he want 100% locked in.
“There is still stuff to talk about,” he said. “I am still thinking through (things) with my people and figuring that out.”
He also said he enjoyed his latest trip to Penn State.
“It was a great visit,” he said. “It’s an amazing environment. I was chillin’ with the coaches and stuff like that.”
But it makes sense that McClary is going to Rutgers.
For one, Piscataway is less than an hour away from Jersey City.
Rutgers is also making some noise on the recruiting trial, so much so that McClary isn’t the first ex-PSU ‘25 commit Rutgers has landed.
Jaelyne Matthews, who was Penn State’s first 2025 commit, doing so in late January 2023, de-committed last September, the same month McClary committed. He ended up picking Rutgers earlier this month.
