Penn State has one quarterback committed to its 2025 Class, and for now, it will stay that way.
Matt Zollers was one of Penn State’s most well-known ‘25 targets.
For one, the 6-foot-4, 205-pounder is an in-state product from Royersford’s Spring-Ford High School.
But more importantly, Zollers has become one of America’s top QB’s from his class. 247Sports has him as the No. 6 QB from his class, the No. 1 player in Pennsylvania and the No. 62 overall ‘25 player. Penn State was in the running for Zollers, being a finalist along with Georgia, Missouri and in-state rival Pitt. But Zollers decided to commit to an out-of-state school.
He announced in a ceremony at his high school Thursday afternoon that he’s committed to Missouri.

Assuming Zollers and Zahir Mathis, who 247Sports’ composite rankings have as the No. 1 player on the state, stay committed to their respective schools (Mathis didn’t have Penn State as a finalist and committed to Ohio State in January), Penn State’s streak of landing the top-ranked player from Pennsylvania will come to an end.
Barring something crazy, this year’s PSU roster will feature PA’s No. 1 player from the 2020 (Julian Fleming), 2021 (Nolan Rucci), 2022 (Nicholas Singleton), 2023 (J’ven Williams) and 2024 (Quinton Martin) classes.
But things can change.
For instance, Fleming played at Ohio State for four seasons before transferring to PSU this winter and Rucci spent three at Wisconsin.
As it stands, Bekkem Kritza is Penn State’s lone QB commit for the ‘25 Class. Kritza is a three-star who’s originally from Boulder, Colorado, but will be playing his last season at Florida’s Miami Central High School.
Overall, the ‘25 Class is still strong for PSU, ranking No. 6 according to 247.
