Lilley, a 6-foot-10, 245-pounder, was with Penn State for two seasons, playing for Micah Shrewsberry in 2022-23 and Mike Rhoades this past season. Lilley appeared in only five games as a true freshman and was set for a bigger role in Year 2. He quadrupled his amount of games, playing on 20, but missed almost three weeks in February due to injury.
Lilley returned for Penn State’s game at Iowa Feb. 27, but missed the team’s last two regular season games. He returned for the Big Ten Tournament, playing five minutes in Penn State’s win over Michigan and eight in the team’s second-round loss to Indiana. Rhoades said after the game that Lilley couldn’t continue against Indiana due to injury.
He ended his season averaging 2.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.
Before Penn State, Lilley was one of the state’s top 10 prep players, starting at Lower Merion High School in the Philadelphia Area. Lower Merion was also the alma mater of a man named Kobe Bryant.
Assuming Lilley doesn’t leave the transfer portal and return to Penn State, the team will have only Jameel Brown left from the Shrewsberry era. Clary was also a player that played his first season for Shrewsberry.
His entry to the portal was no surprised after his dismissal from the team in February.
