A Penn State offensive lineman has entered the transfer portal.
Blue-White Illustrated reported last Friday that Ibrahim Traore would be leaving the program after four seasons.
Four days later, Pete Nakos of On3Sports confirmed that Traore would be entering the transfer portal.
Traore only played in one game throughout his Penn State career. He didn’t play at all in 2020 and redshirted the ‘21 season. Traore didn’t play in 2022 but did appear in Penn State’s win over UMass this past October. Traore still has three seasons of eligibility left. He’ll be entering the portal as a graduate transfer, having been with Penn State for four seasons.
Traore was a three-time captain in four seasons at Frederick Douglas Academy, helping his team to a 12-1 record as a freshman. A three-star recruit, Traore committed to Penn State in September 2019.
Wherever they need me to play, I am ready to go. Coach (James) Franklin is a genuine guy. He’s so energetic and he is so passionate about what he does. He brings energy into the room,” Traore told Lions247 after his commitment.
Penn State’s offensive line will be in transition next season, with three starters— including projected top-five pick Olu Fashanu— leaving. Franklin, OL coach Phil Trautwein and co. have addressed the line in the transfer portal by landing a commitment from former Wisconsin OL Nolan Rucci.
It’s hard to tell where Rucci would be best on the line at the college level since he hasn’t received a a lot of game reps. He only appeared in five games over three seasons at Wisconsin.
Penn State also landed the top ‘20 player in PA, Julian Fleming, who committed after entering the transfer portal from Ohio State.
