Penn State is putting in work to revamp it’s receivers room through the transfer portal.
Although nothing is confirmed yet, PSU is now the favorite to land Ohio State transfer Julian Fleming.
But that’s not all.
According to a report by Brian Dohn of 247Sports, Penn State is hosting Miami transfer Colbie Young this weekend on an official visit.
Penn State fans should be excited anytime they see the words “official visit” and “Lackawanna College” in the same sentence.
Jaquan Brisker and Ji’Ayir Brown both did pretty well, eh? https://t.co/GjZ1UtXczM

Young enter the portal after two seasons at Miami.
He was a key contributor for “The U” in both years.
In 2022, Young picked up 376 yards and five touchdowns on 32 catches. This past season, he went for 563 yards and another five touchdowns on 47 receptions. Had Young put up those numbers for Penn State this season, he would have been the team’s clear cut No. 2 receiver behind KeAndre Lambert-Smith, and it would have been a big help.
The receivers room was generally thought to be the biggest weakness during Penn State’s 2023 regular season. Aside fromLambert-Smith (53 catches, 673 yards, four TD), no Penn State WR had more than 246 yards. But Penn State’s had quality options at receiver throughout the James Franklin era. Players such as Chris Godwin, Jahan Dotson and KJ Hamler all became high-round NFL draft picks.
Penn State fans are waiting for Fleming’s commitment to become official, which would be significant for a slew of reasons.
It’s the same Julian Fleming who 247Sports had as the No. 1 player in PA, the top player in the country and the No. 4 overall player in the 2019 recruiting class. It’s the same Fleming as the one who signed with Ohio State over Penn State. Now, after four seasons in Columbus, multiple insider projections have Fleming coming to Penn State from the transfer portal.
Young has one season of eligibility left. It’s also worth nothing that, like Young, Jaquan Brisker and Ji’Ayir Brown each played at Lackawanna. Those two became stars at Penn State, and we’ll see if Young tries to do the same.
