We interrupt your March Madness and dancing fever to inform those who need to get their fix of Penn State football that help is on the way.
Tuesday marks the beginning of spring practice for coach James Franklin and Penn State as they prepare for the 2023 season.
Spring practice consists of 15 sessions culminating with the Blue-White Game on Saturday, April 15, at 2 p.m. in Beaver Stadium.
The spring session will provide the first look at the defending Rose Bowl champions. It will serve as the beginning of the Drew Allar Era at Penn State. The former five-star from Medina, Ohio, begins his time as the starting quarterback after being Sean Clifford’s backup last season.
Those expecting to see more reps in the Blue-White Game from Allar will likely be without luck, but the game and upcoming practices will give fans an early look at position battles at tight end and wide receiver to start the spring.
It will provide the opportunity to see players like Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen back on the field after spectacular freshmen campaigns and see who replaces those who left for the NFL.
Speaking of those players, Penn State will host its Pro Day Friday, March 24, with a time to be determined. The Pro Day will feature scouts from around the NFL, XFL, CFL and USFL who will get a look at players who weren’t invited to the NFL Combine and another look at those who were.
During the spring football session, Franklin, as well as coaches and players, will meet with the media following that day’s practice.
Franklin will get the ball rolling with his annual spring practice press conference slated for noon Tuesday, March 14.
