On Monday afternoon, Connor Bewick, a Class of 2024 defenseman out of Gurnee, Illinois, announced his commitment to play hockey at Penn State.
Bewick announced his decision on his Twitter account:
“I am humbled and honored to announce my commitment to Penn State University,” Bewick tweeted. “I would like to thank my family, friends, and coaches who have supported me and helped me get to this point.”

The 5-foot-11, 163-pound Bewick recently earned a spot on the 2022 U.S. Under-17 select team at the Five Nations Tournament in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He shoots and handles the puck right-handed and scored 12 points in 19 games with his club team, Team Illinois.
Being a part of the U.S. National Development program has worked wonders for kids in helping to develop their youth career as six players were drafted in the first round of the 2022 NHL Entry Level Draft.
Scouts think he is a legitimate prospect at the college level. They see him as a physically strong-body defenseman that knows how to handle the puck well on his own and knows how to skate at an elite level. He can evade forecheckers and find a passing outlet. He also has an impressive slapshot that demonstrates his hand speed and skills with the stick.
Bewick will be a prospect to look out for in the next two years before coming to Happy Valley.
