Penn State lost again, and this time, it wasn’t close.
Northwestern was the better team from bell to bell in its 34-13 win over PSU in Evanston Friday night.

Coach Matt Campbell blamed the man in the mirror.
“I think the frustrating thing for me,” Campbell said in his postgame presser, “is the standard of what this program plays football with, the attitude, the effort, the toughness. We lacked it in every way, shape, and form tonight, and I put a lot on me.”
“I put a lot on me because there’s somehow, some way that I didn’t get this team prepared to play the physical brand of football that we need to play. And that’s something that, again, it showed up on both sides, especially on the line of scrimmage. You know, I do think there were a lot of missed tackles on defense tonight. I think we had a lot of opportunities to make some plays and missed tackles. And again, we got to find solutions, and it starts with me as the head football coach.
Campbell was asked why Penn State wasn’t prepared to play at its standard.
“Yeah, those are all things that I wish I had the magic answer right now,” he said. “To be quite honest with you, I think, like I said, the reality of tonight is they control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the football, and when you do that, and doesn’t matter what league or what game it is, you really put yourself at a great advantage to dictate the pace of the game, and they did from the start of the game to the finish of the game. And again, we have to find great answers to get it fixed. And it starts with the head football coach, and we’ll work really hard to have better answers than what I’m giving you right now.”
