One of the biggest questions coming out of Saturday’s win vs. Temple was: why didn’t Penn State play Quinton Martin?
The third-year HB from Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, showed off what he could do at the end of last season, eclipsing 100 yards in Penn State’s Peach Bowl win over Clemson.
In this year’s opener, he rushed for a respectable 38 yards on 10 carries against Marshall and was the only Penn State runner to score a touchdown in the 45-0 win.
He’s still the only Penn State runner to score a touchdown.
After another underwhelming rushing performance, offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser said he knew he’d be asked about Martin.

CAMPBELL on MARTIN
Head coach Matt Campbell also spoke briefly on Martin’s usage, saying it was a matter of Penn State having a lot of capable players.
“We have a lot of playmakers, and that’s why practice is so critically important right now,” Campbell said. “There’s still some gray, and that room is going to continue to work itself out as we work through the weeks and work through these games.”
Penn State takes on Buffalo Saturday in Beaver Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon on the Big Ten Network.
