PHILADELPHIA– Penn State has a deep tight end corps this season, which everybody has come to expect.
But there’s one tight end that, at least from a pass-catching standpoint, is starting to stand out.
Ben Brahmer led all Iowa State pass catchers with six touchdowns last season, and already has two in just three halves of football this year at Penn State.
Brahmer hauled in a 23-yard touchdown pass from Rocco Becht with nine seconds left in the first half to give Penn State its first lead of Saturday’s matchup with Temple at Lincoln Financial Field. He ended the first half with 36 yards on three catches plus the score. Brahmer also had a touchdown catch in Penn State’s 45-0 win over Marshall in Week 1 in Beaver Stadium, so his TD against Temple made him the first PSU player with TD catches in each of this season’s first two games.
The touchdown also capped off a solid two-minute drill led by Becht.

Penn State never made it into the red zone on that last drive, which is perhaps why it scored.
PSU had the ball inside Temple’s 20 three times earlier in the half and managed three points from those drives, which is why Temple was still in the game at halftime.
PSU will have to clean up its red-zone issues.
