Penn State has received a commitment from Dhillon McGee, a three-star cornerback from Texas’ DeSoto High School.
McGee announced his commitment Wednesday night, picking Penn State over in-state schools Texas, SMU and others.
He also has offers from schools such as Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Boston College, Cal, Duke, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan, Nebraska, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Pitt, TCU, Texas Tech, USC, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
McGee had been on Penn State’s radar for a while, having been offered in August 2025 when James Franklin was still the coach. One of the few holdovers from Franklin’s staff, Terry Smith, happens to be Penn State’s cornerbacks coach, and the two developed a close relationship.
McGee took his official visit to Penn State the weekend of June 12, and most recently visited Texas this past weekend.
Despite Texas being the last look before McGee made his decision, the in-state star picked Penn State.
McGee is a three-sport athlete, also playing baseball and running track. As a freshman, he ran the 100-meter (wind legal) in 10.64 and 10.92, and had a wind-aided time of 10.87 per Athletic.net.
Penn State has had two cornerbacks de-commit this month, with Semajay Robinson announcing his de-commitment June 9 and Zachary Gleason Jr. doing the same two days later. Robinson committed to Virginia, and Gleason West Virginia.
Getting a commitment from McGee takes the sting off of that for Penn State fans.
McGee is the 22nd player to commit to Penn State’s 2027 Class and the third cornerback, joining Kei’Shjuan Telfair (Euclid, Ohio) and Ka’ron Ceaser (Atco, New Jersey).
