Penn State QB Drew Allar Visits Pittsburgh Steelers

On the final day of pre-draft visits before the show begins next Thursday in Pittsburgh, Drew Allar made a trip to the city.

Allar won’t be in attendance as one of 16 invitees in the green room as Pittsburgh hosts the 2026 NFL Draft, but may have gotten a taste of his future home.

Allar visited the Steelers on Wednesday, according to multiple reports. Wednesday marked the last time NFL teams could host prospects at their facilities. Allar marked the 29th player to visit the Steelers.

A three-year starter at Penn State, Allar entered 2025 as a Heisman candidate. Everything changed following an overtime loss to Oregon that shaped PSU’s season and the course of the program’s history.

The Nittany Lions started 3-0, but proceeded to lose their next three games and head coach James Franklin was fired.

Allar suffered a season-ending ankle injury against Northwestern on October 11 and finished his Penn State playing career.

He rehabbed throughout the season and was healthy enough to throw in front of GM’s, coaches, and scouts at the NFL Combine in late February.

The Steelers still haven’t received an answer from four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers on if he will return next season, despite speculation being that he will.

Steelers owner Art Rooney II said at the NFL owners meetings that he expects an answer before the draft.

The organization brought in four quarterbacks for visits: Allar, Carson Beck (Miami), Cole Payton (North Dakota State), and Tayler Green (Arkansas).

Allar completed 65% of his passes for 1,100 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions in six games, during his senior season in Happy Valley.

He closed his Penn State career with 7,402 passing yards, 61 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions in 45 games. Allar also threw at Penn State’s Pro Day and said during the combine that if there was a game to be played, he would be healthy enough to go.

After many analysts before the season believed that Allar could be a first-round pick, things changed following Penn State’s disastrous campaign and Allar’s injury. New projections have slotted Allar anywhere from the second round to a day three pick.

Allar guided Penn State to two playoff victories in 2024 (vs. SMU and vs. Boise State in the 2025 Fiesta Bowl), appearances in the Peach Bowl and Orange Bowl, and the Fiesta Bowl title during his historic Penn State career.

Pittsburgh will host the first round on Thursday, April 23, the second and third rounds on April 24, and the fourth through seventh rounds on April 25.
