Penn State Defender No Longer With Team

A young member of Penn State’s defensive line is no longer with the Nittany Lions.

According to Tyler Donohue of 247Sports, defensive end Daniel Jennings is no longer a part of the program.

A 6-foot-1, 257-pound freshman from Princeton, West Virginia, Jennings did not see playing time in 2025.

He re-classified from the 2026 to 2025 recruiting class to join Penn State over the summer. Jennings’ decision was announced in May along with spring portal transfers Amare Campbell and Trebor Peña.

Jennings was an All-State defensive lineman in West Virginia and was ranked as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, ESPN, and On3.

The news comes as defensive line coach Deion Barnes has been announced as the defensive ends/outside linebackers coach at South Carolina under Shane Beamer.

Barnes is a well respected coach who worked with Chop Robinson, Abdul Carter, and others as successful college players who have transitioned to the NFL; but Penn State wasn’t able to retain on Matt Campbell’s coaching staff in 2026.

Penn State plays Clemson in the 2025 Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on December 27. Kickoff is at noon on ABC.
