A Mingo reunion in Happy Valley is very possible. It was reported by Dushawn London of 247Sports that the younger brother of Penn State freshman point guard, Kayden Mingo, has the Nittany Lions as one of his final four schools of choice to attend after high school. Dylan Mingo (2026), is a 6′-5,” five-star guard, and is the No. 5 ranked overall high school basketball player in the country, per 247Sports. He is also the No. 1 ranked player out of the state of New York. Mingo is from Glen Head, New York and plays ball for the Long Island Lutheran (LuHi) Cardinals. The other three schools Mingo is considering are Washington, Baylor and North Carolina.
Adam Finkelstein, director of scouting for 247Sports had this to say about the younger Mingo: “Mingo is a big guard with length, versatility, natural feet for the game and an ability to get wherever he wants with the ball in his hands. He has a tight handle, can break his defender down with combo-moves, navigate a crowded lane instinctively, make reads out of ball-screens, utilize both hands and create for himself and others. He is also a terrific perimeter rebounder (7.6 per game), very disruptive defender (2 steals) and simultaneously capable of guarding multiple positions.”
Older brother, Kayden, is off to a great start in his collegiate career. So far this year through seven games, he is averaging a team-high 14.4 ppg., 4.3 rpg. and 4.1 apg.
Dylan is expected to announce his college decision before the start of the new year.
