It’s the last you’re scheduled to see for a few years.
Saturday marks the final time Penn State and Ohio State will play until 2028. The two programs have played against each other since 1993.
The 32-year streak of Big Ten competition will take a three-year hiatus under the new conference scheduling configuration.
When the Big Ten expanded from 14 to 18 teams, the conference allowed schools to protect their designated rivalry games. Rivalries including Ohio State-Michigan, USC-UCLA, Indiana-Purdue, Maryland-Rutgers are all protected games.
Penn State has no designated rivalry games and didn’t request to protect the Ohio State matchup.
Ohio State has dominated the rivalry, 24-8. Penn State led 10-0 in the first quarter, following a pick-6 of Will Howard, but struggled in the red zone on both sides of the ball and lost to the Buckeyes 20-13.
Ohio State has won the last eight matchups, last losing at Penn State in 2016 in the blocked field-goal game.
The last time Penn State won at Ohio State was in 2011, the last time the Nittany Lions were led by an interim head coach. Tom Bradley led Penn State to a 20-14 victory.
Penn State is a 19.5-point underdog with Terry Smith and the Nittany Lions looking to stun the No. 1 team in the country and shock the college football world on Saturday.
