Times are very difficult for UCLA football.
The Bruins will face an irritated and motivated Penn State team on Saturday, coming off a shocking 30-24 double overtime loss to Oregon.
UCLA is 0-4 and lost its Big Ten opener, 17-14, at Northwestern last week. The Bruins fired head coach DeShaun Foster after being embarrassed on their home field by New Mexico.
The Lobos pushed around UCLA and won 35-10, pushing out Foster after only one full season.
On Tuesday, UCLA made another coaching move.
According to Pete Thamel of ESPN and the LA Times, offensive coordinator Tino Sunseri has been let go by the team. Sunseri played quarterback at Pitt from 2009-2012 and is a Pittsburgh native. He attended Central Catholic High School, home to current Nittany Lions including Xxavier Thomas, Anthony Speca, and Peter Gonzales.
Assistant head coach/tight ends coach Jerry Neuheisel will take over as the Bruins’ play caller. A former UCLA quarterback, Neuheisel is the son of CBS analyst and former UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel.
UCLA is averaging 14.3 points per game, 134th in college football. The program is tied for 124th in third-down percentage (30.6%) and 119th in total yards (321.3).
Penn State is currently a 25.5-point favorite against the Bruins. The Nittany Lions have not covered in any of their first four games. The game kicks off from the Rose Bowl at 3:30 p.m. eastern.
