Penn State Basketball Offers Six Prospects

Coach Mike Rhoades and his staff are continuing their efforts to rebuild Penn State basketball, and it all starts with recruiting.

On Monday night, Penn State offered five prospects from the Class of 2027 offers.

The first recruit is Antonio Pemberton.ย  Pemberton is a 6-foot-1 point guard from Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. 247Sports ranks Pemberton he ranks as the No. 58 recruit nationally, the No. 15 point guard in the country and the top-ranked player in New Hampshire.ย  Pemberton plays for Brewster Academy and has also received offers from Albany, Bryant, Maryland and Rutgers.

The second recruit sought after by Rhoades and company is 6′-2″ point guard Joshua Tyson.ย  Tyson plays for Lakota West High School out of West Chester, Ohio.ย  Some of the other schools who want Tyson are Cincinnati, Detroit Mercy, Duquesne, Kent State, Ohio State and West Virginia.

Charles Pur is also wanted by Penn State.ย  This 6′-9″ power forward from Burlington, North Carolina also has offers from Cincinnati, Mississippi State, Nicholls State, South Carolina, and Tennessee.ย  Pur is from South Sudan but moved to the United States last February and had a great sophomore season.ย  Playing for Burlington Christian Academy, he averaged 11.5 ppg., nine rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1 steal and 2.8 blocks per game according to Max Preps.

The next recruit who announced his PSU offer Monday night is 6′-3″ guard Davon Maloney.ย  This blue-chipper hails from Troy, New York, and transferred to The Newman School where Penn State’s own incoming freshmen, Reggie Grodin, attended.

The fifth prospect is Marquis Newson.ย  Newson is from Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania and played for The Academy of the New Church Boys School.ย  The 6′-5″ shooting guard also has offers from Arizona State and Virginia Tech.

These five offers from PSU last night came just days after 2026 four-star small forward Trent Perry thanked Rhoades on X for the invite to State College.ย  According to the 247Sports composite, this blue-chipper from Link Academy in Branson, Missouri is the No. 85 ranked player nationally, the 30th ranked small forward in the country, and the fourth-best player in the state of Missouri.ย  Perry also has offers on the table from New Mexico State, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, and Texas A&M.

Rhoades and his staff are trying to replicate and even outdo their 2025 incoming freshman class that ranked No. 26 nationally, the highest-ranked class in program history.
