The final rankings are in for the 2025 Penn State wrestling recruiting class via MatScouts.
As expected, things turned out pretty well.
Cael Sanderson’s wrestling empire has the two top-ranked commits in Marcus Blaze and PJ Duke.
Two more commits placed in the top 25, another in the top 40 and nobody fell outside the top 60.
The rankings also don’t include Masanosuke Ono, a World Champ who will be starting his college career at Penn State this winter. Based on the people Penn State has coming in, there’s no reason to think the force that’s won 12 of the past 14 national titles is slowing down.
THE BEST OF THE BEST
Since Blaze committed to Penn State in November, it’s been understood that he and Duke are the best of the best in Penn State’s class.
Blaze capped off a phenomenal high school career, going 200-2 and winning four state titles in Ohio. Duke, who committed to Penn State back in September 2023, also won his fourth state title, competing in New York.
There’s an opening for Blaze to start at Penn State next season.
Blaze projects at either 133 or 141, and Penn State is losing its 141-pounder, Beau Bartlett, to graduation.
If Ono— who is in a similar boat weight-wise— ends up competing at 141, Blaze would probably have to beat out All-American Braeden Davis at for a starting job.
Duke projects at 157, where Penn State has third-place finisher Tyler Kasak set to come back.
THAT’S NOT ALL
Sure, Blaze and Duke are the headliners of Penn State’s 2025 Class. But they aren’t the whole show. Will Henckel is ranked 18th in the country. State College’s Asher Cunningham is ranked No. 22 and Nathan Desmond (Bethlehem Catholic) is ranked No. 39. Rounding out the class is another PA guy in Central Mountian’s Dalton Perry. He’s ranked No. 59.
Yep, Penn State wrestling recruiting is in good shape.
