Penn State wrestling true freshman Luke Lilledahl is going dancing.
With two bonus point wins in Session I of this weekend’s Big Ten Championships in Evanston, Illinois, Lilledahl has officially punched his first NCAA Tournament ticket.
This doesn’t come as a surprise.
Lilledahl is already one of America’s best at 125, and wrestling fans didn’t expect anything less than commanding wins over Illinois’ Calen Riley (pinfall) and Iowa’s Joey Cruz (11-1 major decision). Lilledahl’s next bout will probably be a little tougher. In the semis, Lilledahl is scheduled to take on top-seeded Matt Ramos of Purdue. Ramos is the favorite to win at 125 not only at Big Tens but also in the NCAA’s. We’ll see if Lilledahl puts a dent in those plans.
