For the first time since 2017, Penn State volleyball is going to the Final Four.
With a win over Creighton that took all five sets, PSU sent the Rec Hall faithful home happy and is going to the national semifinal.
Penn State won the first set fairly easy 25-15.
Creighton evened it up in the second set with a 25-16 win. In the third set, Creighton led 17-12, but Penn State out scored its opponent 13-5 the rest of the way to take a 2-1 lead.
But Creighton wouldn’t go away, winning the fourth set 25-20 to send it to a deciding fifth set.
In that fifth set, Penn State trailed 2-1 but after going ahead 3-2, it never fell behind again. Taylor Trammel’s eighth kill of the night sealed the deal.
Jess Murzik led Penn State with 20 kills and Gillian Grimes had 17 digs.
Penn State’s semifinal matchup will be against fellow Big Ten foe Nebraska Thursday, Dec. 19, either at 6:30 or 30 minutes after Pitt-Louisville.
A Penn State-Pitt final would be a lot of fun.
