The latest rankings are out, and Penn State has been leapfrogged.
Penn State fans came into Sunday morning knowing their team would stay in the top five following its second of two bye weeks.
The question was where it would land.
It turns out, Penn State has kept its No. 3 ranking in the Coaches Poll but been jumped over by Georgia.
Although Georgia has a loss and Penn State doesn’t, Georgia put together one of the most impressive performances of the college football season Saturday night in Austin. Facing the No. 1 team in the country on the road at night, Georgia didn’t have many problems in its 30-15 win over Texas.
PENN STATE IS STILL IN GOOD SHAPE

At the end of the day, Penn State controls its destiny. Although it’s always better to be ranked higher than lower, if Penn State ends the season undefeated, it will have a chance to play in the Big Ten title game, and a win there would get Penn State a bye in the expanded College Football Playoff, if not a No. 1 ranking. With the execution of its Nov. 2 clash against Ohio State at Beaver Stadium, Penn State will be the favored in each of its remaining six regular-season games. The second half of the season starts Saturday night at 7:30 on NBC at Wisconsin.
WHAT IF THIS HAPPENS?

Oregon, Indiana and Penn State are all unbeaten. None of them play each other in the regular season. Just imagine if all three finish undefeated? That would be pretty wild, and pretty neat for the Big Ten.
Before Penn State can worry too much about the rankings, it has to take care of Wisconsin.
