A Penn State commit has flipped to Auburn.
It’s been widely speculated for a while that one of PSU’s Class of 2025 commits, Alvin Henderson, wouldn’t stay committed to Penn State.
When it was reported by On3 that Henderson was trending to flip to Auburn, it felt like just a matter of time before Henderson made it official.
The time was early Friday afternoon, when Henderson revealed his decision to John Garcia of Rivals.com.
“I’ve flipped from Penn State,” Henderson told Garcia. “I’m ready to work with the guys that’s already committed, staying in-state and take over the SEC. I’ve always felt sure about Auburn.”
The chances of Henderson sticking with Penn State is something that’s been talked about almost since he committed to The Nittany Lions back on April 11, 2024.
The biggest reason for the speculation is Henderson’s national ranking combined with him being from SEC country in Elba, Alabama.
Rivals.com rates Henderson as the No. 3 running back and the No. 36 overall player in the Class of 2025.
Despite his commitment to PSU, Henderson was continually being recruited by other programs and held an impressive offer list from schools such as Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Colorado, Florida State, Georgia, Iowa, Miami, Michigan State, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, NC State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Pitt, South Carolina, Stanford, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Utah, Virginia Tech and Washington.
Penn State still has two running backs from the Class of 2025 committed in 3-star Kiandrea Barker and 4-star Tiqwai Hayes. Penn State is also trying to land four-star Jabree Wallace-Coleman, an in-state product from Philly’s Imhotep Charter who de-committed from Georgia last December.
