A Penn State receiver who entered the transfer portal earlier this month has found a new home.
After one season at Penn State, Malik McClain entered the transfer portal for the second time, previously doing so from Florida State.
Now, McClain has committed to Arizona State, announcing the move late Sunday night.

McClain likely won’t be playing either of his old teams, with Arizona State previously being in the Pac 12 and moving to the Big 12 starting this season. McClain’s a college football veteran, having spent two seasons at Florida State and then another at PSU. What ended up being his lone season in Happy Valley started out with promise for McClain.
In the team’s season opener against West Virginia under the Beaver Stadium lights, McClain caught four passes for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Unfortunately, that would end up being his lone TD in a Penn State uniform.
McClain got a start in the Big Ten opener at Illinois Week 3 but dropped two passes and only caught one for six yards.
He didn’t start another game for PSU. McClain ended the year with six catches for 61 yards and a touchdown, with most of that production coming in the season opener. Penn State’s receivers as a whole played below par in 2023, and the room will look different this season.
Along with McClain, leading receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Malick Meiga also hit the portal this spring.
For Penn State to reach its goals in 2024– which, as usual, are to win the Big Ten—, the receivers must be improved. Julian Fleming, who spent four seasons with Ohio State, is expected to lead the way.
