Former Penn State DE Chop Robinson achieved his goal of being a first-round selection.
With the 21st pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins selected the man called Chop.
Robinson only played two seasons at Penn State after starting his college football career at the University of Maryland in 2021.
But he certainly left his mark over those two seasons.
Two of Robinson’s college coaches congratulated Robinson on his big night.
Head coach James Franklin wrote that the Dolphins are “lucky to have” Robinson.
“You’ve earned this opportunity,” Franklin wrote. “We appreciate what you’ve given to Penn State. Continue to compete & chase your dreams. #WeAre

Robinson played both of his seasons at Penn State under defensive coordinator Manny Diaz.
Diaz also coached another Dolphins first-round pick: linebacker JJ Phillips.
Phillips was Miami’s first-round pick in 2021.
Before that, he spent two seasons at the University of Miami, with Diaz as his head coach.
Great pick @MiamiDolphins🐬 Pairing @chopyoungbull with @JJPhillips15 together is how you terrorize QBs! ⚒️⚒️⚒️ Great players and better men!”

Coming into the Draft, some wondered if Chop Robinson, listed at 6-foot-3 and 254 pounds, was too small to be a first-round pick.
But Robinson always believed in himself.
“I’m a guy who shows up every single day,” Robinson said. “I give everything I have, and I’m consistent with everything I do. I have the best get-off and the best bend. You can’t teach that.”
“I know what type of player I am,” Robinson said. “Wherever I end up, first, second, third or fourth round, it doesn’t matter to me. I’m going to be the same player regardless.”
