UNIVERSITY PARK— Almost a year ago today, Drew Allar came into the game more than midway through the third quarter of a Penn State blowout win at Beaver Stadium.
Today, he was in a reverse role, coming out of the game a little more than midway through the third quarter.
Allar (22-for-26, 204 yards, TD) did his part, and with Penn State leading 42-7, certainly earned the right to rest.
But it would have been understandable for Allar, being the competitor that he is, to not want to come out of the game.
With that said, Allar wasn’t discouraged with having to come out.
“Everybody on this team works extremely hard,” Allar told reporters after the game. “Most people don’t know how hard we really work, especially in the summer when there aren’t as much classes going on. We put hours into it, whether it’d be lifting weights, running, or in the film room and everybody deserves to be out there and playing because everybody’s there for a reason, and it’s really good to see those guys that are either young or inexperienced get out and get their first experience especially at a home environment in Beaver Stadium.”
Hear more from Allar and teammates Nicholas Singleton (12 carries, 47 yards, a career-high three touchdowns), Kaytron Allen (19 carries, 103 yards, 1 TD), and the QB who relieved Allar, Beau Pribula.
