Brown won the Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week, as voted on by the Football Writers of America.
Against Auburn, Brown recorded a strip sack against T.J. Finley in the third quarter, which Curtis Jacobs recovered. He also intercepted a Robby Ashford pass near the goal line when Auburn was trying to get the game within two scores, which also happened in the third quarter.
Brown, who was a third-team All-Big Ten Selection last season after grabbing six interceptions, which tied for the most in the nation, is picking up where he left off. He leads Penn State in total tackles with 15 and solo tackles with 13.
This is the sixth time this season that a Penn State player has received a weekly honor for their performance.
Sean Clifford was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week in Week 1’s win over Purdue. That same week, Joey Porter Jr. was named the Chuck Bednarik Defensive Player of the Week.
Nick Singleton has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week in each of the past two weeks after wins over Ohio and Auburn.
