One of the most noteworthy pieces of news this off-season for Penn State football was Jaquan Brisker deciding to return to college instead of entering the NFL Draft.
The senior safety has definite NFL skills but believed he still had things that he could work on before taking his skills to the next level.
On Monday, Brisker (6-foot-1, 200 pounds) received a personal honor as he found out he was named to the Associated Press Preseason All-American Team. Brisker was placed on the second-team along with Jalen Catalon from Arkansas, while Notre Dame’s Kyle Hamilton and Northwestern’s Brandon Joseph received first-team honors.
Last season, Brisker finished third on the Nittany Lions defense with 57 tackles and also recorded three tackles for loss, six pass breakups and one interception. That body of work earned him third-team All-Big Ten honors.

Brisker joined Penn State in 2019 as a 4-star recruit from Lackawanna C.C., where he was a JUCO All-American.
New Penn State safeties coach Anthony Poindexter will be counting on Brisker this season as the Nittany Lions will look to replace Lamont Wade, who graduated and is currently trying to make the roster of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
