Penn State Basketball: Kayden Mingo Lands At Baylor

Photo by Penn State Athletics: Kayden Mingo

It was reported today that former Nittany Lion standout point guard, Kayden Mingo, has committed to Baylor.

On April 8, Mingo announced he was entering the transfer portal, but there was still hope for Nittany Lion hoop fans that the highest-rated recruit in program history would make his way back to State College after exploring his options.

Mingo also visited Oklahoma earlier this week.

The 6′-3″ guard from Farmingdale, New York averaged 13.7 points, 4.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game this past season.

Baylor is an interesting school of choice since his younger brother and five-star recruit Dylan, had Baylor as one of his final four schools of choice.

We will see if younger brother follows big brother to Waco, Texas.

Mingo enters a Baylor basketball program that had an overall record of 17-17 and a Big 12 Conference record of 6-12.

The Nittany Lions have already seemed to sign Mingo’s successor in Jay Rodgers.

Rodgers is an experienced, 6′-3″ point guard who played for Central Connecticut the past four seasons and averaged 11.0 points, 6.9 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game.

Rodgers’ 6.9 assists per game ranked eighth in the country.
