In recruiting news, Penn State will be getting an official visit from a Georgia RB in June.
Tyler Calvaruso of Lions247 reported Sunday afternoon that Gary Walker, who rushed for 2020 almost 1,700 yards at state champion Creekside High School in Fairburn, has an OV scheduled for the weekend of June 19.
Walker also averaged 9.4 yards per carry and 119.2 yards per game.
Despite not being ranked for now, Walker has a lot of school after him.
Penn State offered him in late January, and he also has offers from schools such as Boston College, Cincinnati, Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Northwestern, Pitt, Rutgers, Stanford, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
Of those schools, Walker has official visits scheduled to Stanford (May 22), Clemson (May 29), and Virginia Tech (June 5) in addition to Penn State.
Penn State doesn’t have any players committed to its Class of 2027.
At one point, it had four players committed, including the top RB in the nation in Kemon Spell (McKeesport, Pennsylvania).
But Spell de-committed from Penn State the day head coach James Franklin was fired, and committed to Georgia earlier this month.
If a PA RB can commit to Georgia, a Georgia RB can commit to Penn State, and it has happened before. Cam Wallace, who is entering his fourth season with the program, came from Montgomery High School in Mt. Vernon, Georgia, which is less than three hours away from Fairburn.
Walker hasn’t visited Penn State yet, having most recently visited Florida State for one of the school’s Junior Day events Jan. 31.
